Whereas crowns are often the ideal solution for correcting individual teeth, bridges can be used to restore the appearance of two or more missing or damaged teeth. Aside from making your smile look less-than-perfect, large gaps in your mouth can also allow space for the remaining teeth to shift around, fall out of line and generally become uncomfortable.

For that reason, bridges are recommended to give the appearance of having your full set of teeth back in your mouth again. The teeth either side of the gap are often used as anchors to support new false teeth placed in between, and as with crowns, bridges can be colour-matched to the rest of your teeth too for an enhanced cosmetic appearance.
